GUS Education India was recently subject of a case study on organisational development by IIM Bangalore, a leading public business school that focuses on management. The report was titled ‘GUS Education India: Preserving the Soul During Rapid Growth’.
The case study explored how Shashi Jaligama, Managing Director at GUS Education India, and Nikhil Patwardhan, Senior Director of Client Services at GUS Education India, relocated to Hyderabad to set up operations in India. Since its establishment, GUS India has expanded very quickly and has often far surpassed the expected growth rate. This is exemplified by almost 1,000 people now being employed by the branch – a huge increase from the 35 employed in 2017.
The case study focused on how Shashi and Nikhil were able to preserve the soul of a start-up while scaling rapidly. Ultimately, they were able to recreate the entrepreneurial and empowered employees culture Aaron Etingen, CEO of Global University Systems, created at GUS.
